This will be year 8 of WBBL Off-season Development; this is a proven program.
We promise BIG positive Changes in Players’ skills and habits; we improve basketball players.
We teach the most modern basketball skills, in a fun-paced and hard-working environment.
Core Belief: If our young athletes learn to PASSIONATELY LOVE A CHALLENGE, and take on challenges with the right tools and confidence, they can accomplish great things.
All of these classes use the most modern Long Term Athletic Development (LTAD) principals, as are used in European and Canadian basketball development programs.
Approximate age ranges for each group are shown below, but you as the parent are welcome to try any class and find the best fit for your child and your schedule.
6:00 pm Class every Tues, Wed, Thurs- (Beginner/Intermediate) This class is appropriate for a wide range of age groups and skill levels. Modern Fundamentals of Basketball. Catching, throwing, balance, shooting, loaded legs “athletic position”, twist passes. Dribbling skills: from the beginning we teach head-up POWER dribbles, between the legs, behind the back, spin move and multi-move. Losing the ball and messing up are perfectly fine and encouraged. Eye discipline (court vision), controlled stops. Learn to be “Strong with the ball”. Strong with the ball means: you are not afraid of someone taking the ball from you even if it is two defenders on you. One-to-one attention when needed. This class is for players that are still developing to be “Strong with the ball”. Instructors seperate out players into 3-4 small groups (at their own baskets) according to age/abilities. (Approx Ages 6-12)
7:00 pm Intermediate Class every Tues, Wed, Thurs- Learn to make yourself an advanced player. Train hard, get the modern skills that it takes to be super confident. Your opponent to beat is “You yesterday”. Failures in workouts required if you want to become radically better. Lots of advanced dribbling and shooting work. Players must LOVE CHALLENGES. Shooting off the dribble: Hop and One-Two, Arc training on the Noah, two footed layups all variations, stretch layups all variations, quick-shot/floater. Defense: Modern push step. Compete: (3 on 3 and 2 on 2). (Approx Ages 9-14)
7:00 pm Competitive Class every Tues, Wed, Thurs- This hour will be all about COMPETING. This will be an advanced class, previous time spent in WBBL Development classes is helpful. Advanced foot work, long-step/slow-step, pacing, gathering late, 30 moves around the basket. 3v3, 2v2, 1v1, Spurs multi-angle screens, rebound from all positions. Advanced shooting lessons, advanced floater routines, mid-range game, 3 pointer and beyond shooting. Dominant on-ball defense. Learn to be "Easy to Referee".
